Melissa S. Bovet
Melissa has worked in the legal field for over 30 years, first as a legal secretary for a medium size law firm in Downtown San Diego from 1987 - 2000 in litigation, land use, and estate planning; as a part-time legal assistant for an adoption attorney from 2002 - 2007; and as a paralegal with the Law Offices of Carol S. Battaglia from 2000 - 2012, and now with Battaglia & Waltari since 2012. Melissa completed the Miramar College Paralegal Program in May 2017 and will receive her Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies in December 2017; graduated from the Sawyer School of Business in 1987; and has been a Notary Public since 1998. Melissa’s legal experience includes court-supervised accounting petitions and fee declarations, conservatorships, special needs trusts, spend downs, estate planning, and probate. Melissa is also conversational in Spanish. Her hobbies include motorcycle rides with her husband (as a passenger) and spending time with her family and two Australian Cattle Dogs, Nash & Ginger. Melissa loves what she does, and it shows in her attention to detail with court documents and trusts, and her personal communication skills by working with families to achieve their estate planning goals and maintain public benefits for disabled beneficiaries.

Lily A. Fitzpatrick
Lillian has worked in the legal field for over 30 years. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology from the College of Arts & Letters at San Diego State University. She is bilingual in both English and Spanish and a notary public. Her experience as a Litigation Legal Secretary is in the areas of Plaintiff’s Personal Injury with an emphasis in construction 3rd party actions, vehicle accidents, slip/fall, and trip/fall accidents. She also has extensive experience in the area of Workers’ Compensation law, as a paralegal for both applicant and defense claims. In the area of Probate law, she assists with Special Needs Trust Administration, Estate Planning and Conservatorships. She has worked in the past with the Law firms of Ludecke & Denton, Battaglia, Fitzpatrick and Battaglia and most currently with Burke and Fitzpatrick. She enjoys spending time with her family by biking and also walking her dogs with her husband.

Dennis McRoberts graduated from the University of Maryland. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 32 years. He interviewed applicants to determine eligibility for various Social Security and Supplemental Security Income programs. He reviewed complex resource and income issues for regulation compliance. He was a mentor to new employees. He volunteers with the Professional Alliance for Children to help families with Social Security and Supplemental Security Income questions or problems. Dennis is the speaker for the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income Disability seminars at the Arc. Dennis does consulting for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income issues.
Aree L. Burke
Aree graduated from San Diego State University with a BS degree in Finance. Aree has been a stay-at-home mom, school volunteer, and Girl Scout troop leader for the past twenty years. For the past ten years, she has also worked part time as legal assistant for Attorney Dennis Burke who practices workers compensation law. Previous to working as a Legal assistant, Aree worked in the financial sector. She enjoys hiking, tennis, cooking and spending time with her family.
Anthony J. Battaglia
AJ began working at Battaglia & Waltari in June, 2012. He graduated from the University of San Diego in 2010, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. AJ started his legal career in college, where he worked at U.S. Pre-Trial Services. Along with spending time with his family, AJ enjoys biking, playing tennis, and soaking up the San Diego sun with his girlfriend. He will be attending California Western School of Law in the fall of 2014, and plans on returning to Battaglia & Waltari as an attorney
