Carol S. Battaglia
Carol Battaglia has been working in the area of trusts, probate, conservatorships and public benefits for over 20 years. She is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on Special Needs Trusts in California. She became interested in estate planning and Medi-Cal benefits while helping her parents and her in-laws plan for aging and disability. Later she started to focus on the field of Special Needs Trusts which stemmed from her desire help her brother in-law who is autistic.

Mary L. Waltari
Before becoming an attorney, Mary worked in the securities and investment banking industry, primarily in management positions. After graduating from University of San Diego Law School, Magna Cum Laude, Mary began her legal career practicing in business and securities litigation. After ten years, she decided to change her focus to the estate planning field. She enjoys helping clients through the process of planning for their families, and especially for those family members with special needs.

Vicki L. Vaughan
Vicki attend the University of South Carolina, B.A. 1985 and the University of San Diego School of Law, J.D. 1992. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was on the Law Review. During law school, she clerked for Judge Gordon Thompson in the 9th Circuit District Court. Then she went to work at Luce, Forward, Hamilton and Scripps where she trained and rotated through all departments, then settled into transactional work, spending most of her time working for tax law partners.

Marilynne P. Leadon
Marilynne graduated from University of Washington in 1985 with a B.S. in Social Work. After working in a law firm for a year in Seattle, she attended the University of San Diego School of Law and graduated with a J.D. in 1989. Marilynne was an associate at Stutz, Artiano, Shinoff and Holtz, practicing civil litigation, and became General Counsel of Critical Air Medicine, Inc., a privately owned air ambulance company.

A.J. graduated from the University of San Diego in 2010, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and began working at Battaglia & Waltari in June 2012, where he worked as a legal assistant for two years. A.J. then graduated from California Western School of Law, in the top half of his class, with a J.D. in April 2017 and returned to Battaglia & Waltari in August 2017. A.J. has taken an interest in the areas of special needs planning and estate planning.
